Performance Based Fire Protection Engineering, PLLC, a fire protection engineering company focused on meeting the fire protection and life safety challenges for clients, recently helped develop a framework that engineers can use to standardize the approach and development of design fires.

The Society of Fire Protection Engineers (SFPE) published the report, Design Fire and Material Performance Database Report, which is authored by members of Performance Based Fire, the University of Maryland and Poole Fire Protection, Inc. The report gives an overview of the literature on fire properties and methodologies to identify a design fire scenario (DFS).

“We were privileged to team up with industry experts to create an outline for standardizing design fires,” said David Stacy, Principal and Founder of Performance Based Fire. “When we all work together to tackle a common problem, we are able to create a solution that benefits everyone and results in safer buildings.”
