David Stacy will co-chair the planning committee and present at SFPE’s premier global conference on performance-based fire safety design, held April 15–17 in Singapore.

Raleigh, NC (March 23, 2026) – Summit Fire Consulting announces that David Stacy, PE, Engineering Manager, will play a prominent dual role at the 16th SFPE Fire Safety Conference on Performance-Based Design, taking place April 15–17, 2026, in Singapore. David has served as a co-chair of the conference planning committee and will deliver a co-presentation alongside Nate Birmingham of Code Red Consultants and represent the U.S. on a technical panel discussion on performance-based design. Summit Fire Consulting’s Engineering Director, Mark Hopkins, PE, FSFPE, is a member of the SFPE Board of Directors who will also represent the company throughout the event and participate in pre-conference board activities.

The SFPE Fire Safety Conference on Performance-Based Design is the premier global forum for fire protection engineers, regulators, and researchers at the forefront of performance-based fire and life safety design. Held every other year, the three-day conference brings together international experts for presentations, case studies, and substantive dialogue on the evolving landscape of fire regulatory systems and engineering practice worldwide.

Performance-Based Design in Practice: Bridging Innovation with Project Realities

David Stacy and Nate Birmingham (Code Red) will co-present a session that examines the practical application of performance-based design (PBD) in real-world project environments. While PBD offers fire protection engineers the flexibility to develop creative, tailored solutions for complex buildings, translating that flexibility into project outcomes requires navigating approval processes, client expectations, and coordination across design disciplines. This session will offer practitioners a grounded look at how innovative PBD strategies are applied and delivered in practice.

Summit Fire Consulting on the World Stage

Summit Fire Consulting is honored to have members of our team playing leadership roles at one of the most significant gatherings in global fire protection engineering. We look forward to the conversations, collaborations, and contributions that will emerge from Singapore, and to continuing to advance the practice of performance-based design for the benefit of the built environment worldwide.
